On an Internet that wants to split everyone into [plotters and pantsers](https://www.reddit.com/r/writing/comments/15lpx3b/are%5Fyou%5Fa%5Fplotter%5For%5Fa%5Fpantser%5Fwhy/?ref=glowstorytelling.com), I deviate.

Why be just one thing?

Intuition comes pre-installed on the human psyche, and we’re all using it when we write, even if we’re just writing text messages with tactfully-placed emojis.

But, we each have our own intuitive flavor, with space to both deepen and expand. If you relate to any (or several) of the below archetypes, know that higher intelligence is supporting your writing and inviting you to share your voice.

Remember, when you strengthen your intuition, you strengthen your writing!

#### ☁️ Astral Traveler

You woke up from a vivid dream and knew it had to be a book.

**How to Balance**: Do a 25-min. silent meditation before bed to boost your dream recall.

#### 🎥 Cinematographer

When you sit down to write, it’s like you’re watching a movie in your head, and translating it into prose, by describing scenery and noting dialogue and action.

**How to Balance**: Visualize places or experiences (past or future) to strengthen your third eye and build a shared language with your subconscious.

#### 😭 Method Actor

To write is to feel. You experience the emotions of every character in your body so that you can write them accurately, and it’s not uncommon for you to cry or tense up when writing pivotal scenes.

**How to Balance**: Take a bath, sage/palo santo, or do breathwork after your writing session to clear the emotional energy that does not belong to you.

#### 📢 Pure Channel

Writing is like taking dictation from the divine. Words, phrases, and full paragraphs come through, slow enough for you to handwrite or type.

**How to Balance**: Do yoga or stretches that lengthen your spine and improve your posture.

#### 🛋️ Therapist

Your characters have their own opinions about their transformation arcs and dialogue, and they are not shy about sharing. Sometimes, you have to mediate between a favorite character and your own vision for the book.

**How to Balance**: Sing in the car (or shower).

#### 🦇 Echolocator

You hear the story, not necessarily through words, but like you’re translating a symphony or sound effects into a cohesive narrative.

**How to Balance**: Spend time listening to nature (and especially away from the noise pollution of electronics) to clear your signal.

#### 🏔️ Intrepid Explorer

Your most productive day can be writing pages you’ll never use. Mapping out what the story is not, backstory, chasing down obscure side plots, and simply getting into flow are all reasons to write material that will never see the light of day. This so-called chaos is how your magic happens.

**How to Balance**: Give yourself a gold star (or a treat) for showing up.

Which of these resonates with you? If you check more than one box … wow, you are gifted! 💝
